Edinburgh. Geek heaven. I spent four days with some of the nicest people I've met in over fifteen years of doing the reporting thang. Mainly thanks to Debbie and Jenny at UIP I got ultimate access to the Serenity cast and crew, beginning with a meal on Sunday, formal press conference, one-to-ones, photo-shoots. Everyone knows Joss is a reporter's dream and we covered the likes of Serenity, Wonder Woman, Astonishing X-Men and the Sipke movie. A real revelation was Natan Fillion. This man is destined for A-List stardom if he plays his cards right. For the moment he's just an endearing chap who's loving his job. He even taught me the Holy Grail of dance moves. Sat between Gina Torres and Jewel Staite at dinner was pretty damned fun!

The film itself is just... fun. For those who know the show it'll be perfect. For those who don't it's still a very fun ride. So much betetr than tosh like War of the Worlds and kinda gives you the tingly 'I just saw Star Wars for the first time' vibe. Solid 9.5 out of 10.

Whilst this week has been a mixture of highs and lows (aren't they always nowadays?), I did get some good news today. The trip up to Edinburgh is all sorted and I have scheduled time with Joss Whedon, the Serenity cast and a ticket to the premiere. May also do some stuff with Kinky Boots (Another film - get your mind out of the gutter).

Verbatim #8 is still at the printers but should be back shortly and Impact hits the stands at the end of this week.

In the meantime, I've spent so much time in front of a computer screen recently, I think I need to lie down in a dark room. After I've covered the rent.
